The women of country music just plain rock. I mean they are beautiful, have attitudes that everyone loves, and they can sing. That is definitely the case for the past American Idol winner who does nothing but succeed when it comes to the music industry. And while she might be married to a man who adores her, she still proves that she is on a bit of a mission to insist guys buck up.

This is true for her newest single which was released yesterday too. It is called “Good Girl.” In it she encourages the “good girl” to get away from a guy who is up to no good. The pop/rock guitar and her incredible voice make it a fun single that you know will be great to watch live.

Listen to the track below and let us know what you think. Personally, we don’t think Carrie Underwood could do any wrong. We won’t be hiding her albums in our www.aspenstoragecenters.com unit any time soon! That’s just our opinion though.

In American pop culture there are many songs where the lyrics have do to with marijuana use and marijuana smoking. Just about all the music from the 1970s had to do with marijuana smoking. Jim Morrison of the band The Doors made headlines when he said higher on live television. Tom Petty is a known marijuana user. His song lyric include rolling joints, speaking about Mary Jane, and other marijuana references. There is even a song called “Last Dance with Mary Jane. “ The song the “Joker” by the Steve Miller Band speaks about being a “midnight toker” referring to smoking marijuana. Even Nail Young is talking about rolling another one for the road and he does not mean cigarettes There are also the Doobie Brothers, does anything else really have to be said about what they like.

Marijuana use has influenced song lyrics from the past and today. Just about every rapper out there talk about selling and smoking marijuana. For example Method Man and Red Man made a song called “How High” which as one can guess is about getting high. The band Sublime has a song that talk about “smoking two joints” for just about every event in daily living. In more recent years Afroman made the national charts with the song “Because I got High.” This is not the only song where Afroman speaks about smoking and selling the smoke. Many people can related to some of the events in that song. Weezer become famous for their songs about smoking hash called “Hash Pipe.” Even young pop stars have been caught smoking marijuana and make references to it in their songs.

Marijuana may be liked by musicians but it is still illegal. There is a legal alternative. There is an online store that specialized in selling legal herbs. The site is the place to go for all different types and varieties of legal smoking blends. This site offers high quality products that meet all legal requirements. Musicians have the money to pay fines for smoking marijuana, most people do not. When wanting to smoke stick to legal herbs.

For Chipotle

Advertising and commercials can be great tools to keep people in the know. Of course you do have some commercials, like the Forever Lazy, that make you cringe every time it starts to come on. Or how about that ASPCA commercial where Sarah McLaughlin sings “Angel” while all the sad hurt animals stare at you. I know that’s enough to bring on the tears in my house.

Anyway, there are some commercials out there that I really do like. Maybe it’s the music or the message or they just make me laugh, but sometimes advertisers do it right.

The commercial below is one for the Chipotle chain of restaurants and the message is clear, they are going back to the start. Originally farming was free range and based around the farmer. Now it has become incredibly industrialized and the hormones pumped into these caged animals is sad. The video clearly shows going back to the old ways of farming.

Now, does Chipotle really use meats and veggies from organic and free range farming? I have no clue, but I do know that I love the idea of the video and the voice behind it.

That is Willie Nelson singing Coldplay’s “The Scientist.” It’s incredible and I can listen to it over and over again. Now it’s your turn to hear this!

My parents were the type that recorded everything I did as a small child. When I return home for the holidays they often force me to sit down and watch these ridiculous and shaky home videos, and in almost all of them I am singing or dancing. Music was obviously an important component in our home. On my third birthday I was singing White Snake’s “Once Bit Twice Shy” and I kept asking to hear some Bocephus (that’s Hank Williams Jr. for those who didn’t know). Is that enough proof that we constantly had music playing?

I know we aren’t the only family out there that has always had a special spot for music. So many people feel like music has been an influence on their lives and family. Why are we as people so drawn to music though? What is it that compels us to listen to and enjoy music of all kinds? There are four main reasons as to why humans connect with music. The rhythm, harmony, melody, and the impact of music on our brains all combine to make listening to music something that people desire to do. I love the infographic that I found below that explains why we like music so much.

One of the family’s favorite music reality shows to watch is The Sing-Off on NBC. We have watched our fair share of shows like American Idol and such, but the talent on this show is just unbelievable. Instead of singing along to music, the groups that perform for a Sony Music contract are all a cappella groups. They are the music, and it is absolutely incredible to watch popular songs be transformed into amazing music only masterpieces. Last night’s show was no exception and it was absolutely remarkable. Another bonus to the show last night is that the second half of the show featured the six groups performing country songs.

Like any competition, some groups did much better than others. There were two performances that really stuck out to me, and one that kept me entertained and excited the whole time. Check out my favorite performances below, and if you have not watched The Sing-Off you are missing out!

My favorite of the night goes to the jazzy and soulful group Afro-Blue. I love their effortless style, but lately they have not been really impressive. The version of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” turned it all around though. They kept their signature sound, but kept the song true even to the original where it was tastefully done. The two leads of the song did an amazing job, and I love the bass.

I think my favorite group this season is Pentatonix, but don’t hold me to it because I change my mind every Monday night. They are just always so impressive, and I can’t get enough of their sound. They chose to do Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue,” which is a fun, upbeat song. It was the least intricate arrangement they have ever done, but I loved it.

And lastly, the performance that made me want to dance and corral around in my living room was from the always entertaining Dartmouth Aires. These guys are just plain fun. The sang Big & Rich’s “Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy.”

As musicians, my family always has music of some type playing in the background of everything we do. Some of us have even picked out songs that are the theme songs of our life. You know that particular song that you would love to have playing overhead anytime you walk in the door to anyplace, like in the movies? Surely you have thought about your own theme song, and if you haven’t I suggest you do so now. I mean you have other things in your life that are important like a reliable car, home security, and heating and air, so why don’t you have a theme song?

To help you find that perfect song for you, here is an inforgraphic that I found that shows “Songs to Live Life By.” It gives you a list of daily life activities and based on your mood a song that you can listen to that will enhance your activity and maybe even your life. I love that the creator of the infographic even included a tune for you to crank up when you are peeling a banana. Of course the only mood give was curious, but aren’t we all a little curious when peeling a banana?

She blames her for a rousing game of “Y’all Ask” on Twitter that is. On the 23rd, Lambert was having a bit of insomnia thanks to the new Pistol Annie’s record coming out that day. To help her get through not sleeping, she asked her fans to take to Twitter and ask her some questions which she would answer. Wanna know more about Miranda? Her guilty pleasure happens to be Toddlers & Tiaras, and when a date night with her husband, Blake Shelton, comes up boots and flip-flops are out of the question, she is usually barefoot in the kitchen. See more on Miranda Lambert’s Twitter. She apologized to those who receive a notification for each tweet, and said to “blame @katyperry for the brilliant idea…”

Due to the possibility of Hurricane Irene hitting the east coast, Kenny Chesney and the other bands on the Goin’ Coastal Tour (Billy Currington and Zac Brown Band) made the decision to move their Sunday show at the Gillette Stadium located in Foxboro, Massachusetts to Friday evening instead. The bands want to keep everyone as safe as possible, and those who cannot make it on Friday will be offered a refund.

So, typically I like to focus on country music, but I found something I just had to share with you all. I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I did, and it does happen to feature Keith Urban on it, so there is a bit of country for you. What I found is an infographic that goes by your dad’s music interests to determine what it is that you listen to today. Infographics are fun, and interactive infographics are even more fun. I went through all the options to try to get to the different results and I must say some of the things seemed to be fairly accurate, and others were really funny.

Find out if your dad influenced your musical tastes by answering the questions and following the answers. My dad really listened to a bit of everything when I was growing up. So, I have a ton of musical interests. My favorite genre, country, is very underrepresented on this infographic, which is okay I guess. It’s still neat.

In 2004 I heard of this guy who was far too cool for a record label with a country sound. His name was Corey Smith. The first time I heard his voice singing out lyrics that were not just catchy but applicable to my life, I was hooked. I have his albums and I have seen him in concert. Oh and I forgot to mention, his song “First Dance,” that was the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding. It’s obvious I am a fan, so imagine my surprise when I hear Corey Smith on the local country station. I was shocked and excited. I know some of his long time fans think that he has “sold out,” but I’m still hooked on Corey Smith. I love his newest album Broken Road and while some of his music now may contradict his older works, I think it just shows how much he has grown as an artist. I grow as a person, so I like my music to grow too.

One of my favorites is “Twenty-One” which is his radio single that I have probably played millions of times since I first heard of him, but it still speaks to me just the same. I love to turn this on and reminisce. Most people are ready to “grow up” too soon, and life goes by quick and that is the theme of the song. When I hear it all I can think is “Damn, I wish I was 21…” Here’s the official video for “Twenty-one” for you to enjoy.I’m from the south and I live quite close to South Carolina so needless to say I have some good memories of the state. Corey Smith helps me to go back in time yet again with his song “Carolina.” I love how he tells a story through his music and lyrics. Not only do I hear this and think of past trips in South Carolina, but I also go back to listening to the song years ago on the way to the coast. There is not an official video for this tune, but you can check it out on iTunes…it’s worth a listen.

His new songs on the album still have a way that tell an incredible story and I have to admit I can see them becoming favorites just like his older songs. Now you have been introduced to the Corey Smith go listen now! For more about him and his tour (he is amazing live) visit his site coreysmith.com.
